CONDYLOMA REMOVAL (GENITAL WARTS)
What are genital warts (condyloma acuminata)?
Genital warts are soft tissue formations caused by infection with Human papilloma virus (HPV), which is sexually transmitted.
How do genital warts develop?
Genital warts grow at times when the immune system is weaker, after the patient is infected with HPV.
How are genital warts diagnosed?
The diagnosis of genital warts is concluded during a gynaecological examination and with the help of HPV genotyping, which allows the gynaecologist to receive information about the specific strain of HPV that has caused the formations to occur.
How are genital warts treated?
Genital warts are treated with the help of a laser. The best type of treatment is vaporization of the wart and its’ root with a laser. After the procedure, the patient should return for regular check-ups every 6 months for the first to years after the intervention, to make sure there are no recurrence. At “Saint Lazar” Maternity Hospital, we provide treatment with a new-generation laser specifically designed for vaporization of unwanted formations.
